Tessa chose the name 4Generations in homage to her great-grandmother. Although they never met it was Christmas cake made to Granny Bird’s legendary recipe that was Tessa’s first and enduring cake memory.
Tessa Whitehouse has a passion for baking and decorating cakes. Tessa creates unique cakes for special occasions and shares her passion and knowledge of all things cake through teaching and demonstrating. With a particular interest in the creative possibilities of royal icing Tessa also uses ganache, buttercream, sugarpaste, sugarflowers and other edible decorative media such as wafer paper and edible lace in her designs.
With royal icing skills honed by Eddie Spence MBE, Tessa is an Accredited Demonstrator for The British Sugarcraft Guild and has a Distinction in ABC Level 3 Sugarcraft achieved at Brooklands College
Tessa’s mother then broadened her baking skills, passing on her ‘secret’ Christmas pudding recipe. By combining these family classics and adding her own Christmas Chutney Tessa Created the 4Generations Christmas Box.
She baked and decorated this special cake each Christmas with her grandmother. While the decoration has improved since those early days this recipe is still baked for the family every Christmas. Grandma also passed on her unique way of making mince pies.
Tessa is the fourth generation of cake bakers in her family although the only one to turn it into a profession. She hopes to pass the love of baking to the fifth generation whose main role currently is as a keen tasting panel!
